Greetings from Minister Rob Nicholson
December 2011
Dear friends:
I would like to begin by once again thanking all of the members of the Conservative Party of Canada Niagara Falls Electoral District Association, the Board of Directors, and the many volunteers, who worked so diligently over the course of the spring Federal election. Thanks to your hard work and support, Canada is now on the right track.
It has been an exciting and successful year for the Conservative Party of Canada, and I am pleased to say that it continues to be my sincere honour to represent the constituents of Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Fort Erie at the House of Commons in Ottawa. Now that we have achieved our goal of a strong, stable, national majority Conservative government, we have a clear mandate from Canadians to move forward with the important legislation that was previously frustrated by the Opposition Parties.
As the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, I am pleased to announce that our Safe Streets and Communities legislation in progressing through the House and will be the new law of the land by early 2012. This Crime Bill will go a long way towards keeping child molesters and drug dealers off our streets and behind bars, where they belong.
We’ve also been working very hard to prepare for the Bicentennial of the War of 1812, which is one of the most significant events in Canadian history. After that war, there was no longer any question that Canada would be its own country, separate and apart from the United States. The Niagara region was certainly a key player in those events and will play a major role in the celebrations over the coming years. I look forward to participating in the many events and activities being planned, and encourage everyone to get involved.
Finally, with the Christmas season now upon us, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year.
Minister Rob Nicholson
